using a map as a backdrop to the t-shirt illustrations.

taking inspiration from artist Mark Powell, i wanted to give my illustration a context so  have visually informed the viewer of Tonys physical journey to where he is now using screen shotted maps of google maps from hartlepool, to middlesborough to leeds.

initially my idea was to add illustrative motifs visually describing things that have happened to him along this journey next to the specific place on the map, however because the direction of the journey is straight down and doesn't curve back around, it doesn't fit into the whole area of the t-shirt, therefore i have decided to spread the motifs out and continue adding the motifs describing he's time in leeds past where the lap stops.

above i have added the motifs visually communicating Tonys time in prison and the street warden that found him on the streets in leeds and took him to st georges crypt. i have placed these motifs around the area on the map they happened -i.e the police warden is on the caption of leeds on the map.
i decided to make the maps black and white and of a lower opacity to make the motifs the focal point.

adding images of the motifs i will draw to get a better impression of what layout to use.
